I guess this blog is dead, but I will offer this: if you look at all the old reviews of Woody's films, especially the critical ones, I think even those reviewers must have some regret for failing to see the genius Woody was offering. His films quite simply are over the heads of most Americans (interestingly Europeans seem to get him more), and while of course the American critics need to appeal to American readers, it's a shame that they sell themselves out for short-term agreement with the public. In the final analysis, all of Woody's films are seriously intelligent films which will last longer than the biggest block-buster of any given year. It's a shame that critics simply don't get this. Or, at least that they weren't smart enough to at least recognize that it might take the public time to catch up to the quality of his work.

Great story you got here. It would be great to read a bit more about this matter. Thank you for posting that material.
